Don't put it off, and don't rest until you get it done. Proverbs 6:4 TPT
Time is a valuable gift from God, and we should not waste it on fear and procrastination.
In this 4-day reading plan, Ann S. Richmond shares her process of launching out as an entrepreneur. The principles shared are geared to encourage believers in the Kingdom of God who have been struggling with Fear and Procrastination, particularly relating to starting a business. God has given many of you business ideas that you have ignored and allowed to pass. There were entrepreneurs in the Bible who trusted God, and they became very successful. Abraham had a successful business in the cattle Industry (Genesis 13:1). Solomon was an entrepreneur involved in Trade and Merchandising (2 Chronicles 9), the Proverbs 31 woman was a businesswoman, and finally, Apostle Paul made and sold tents.
We thank Ann S. Richmond for sharing this devotional plan with us.
For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control. - 2 Timothy 1:7 TPT
Fear has the potential of stagnating its victim. It keeps you from achieving anything worthwhile, and it will keep you from coming to the full realization and materialization of your potential. God is intentional, so every idea He deposits in your spirit is for the advancement of His Kingdom. So do not take what He has given you lightly. Be good stewards.
My process of overcoming fear was a very difficult one. It began with a journal I invested in written by an exceptional woman of God, Destine Reid. This journal primarily focused on us facing our Goliaths, challenges, fears, and slaying them. In reading and engaging the material, I had to confront my fears by first identifying them and conquering them. Second Timothy 1:7 help me a lot, but firstly, I had to speak the word of the Lord, believe it, and make it practical. It did not happen by clicking my fingers, but I had to submit to Holy Spirit each day. God knows me more than I know myself, and He is intentional in everything He does. He knew my fears, so He set things in place for me to overcome them. I am thankful for the people He connected me with who pushed me to act when I was afraid to do so. I know that many of you are going through what I did and want to break free. God knows who you are, and He wants to enable you as He did me. I am grateful. If you have not read Davidic Posture "Slaying Goliath " by Destine Reid, I encourage you to invest in a copy. It has helped me to break free. I also encourage you to stay connected to the Vine.
Lord, I thank you for the process of breaking past my fears. Thank you, Lord, for every person reading this plan. I declare they will walk in power, love, and self-control. Fear has no right over their lives. I stand in agreement with them and declare they are free in the name of Jesus Christ. Now walk in your freedom from fear.
Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and not rely on your insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. - Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP
Every business starts with an idea, and that idea is the seed that the Holy Spirit downloaded. What we do with the seed will determine the outcome of it. Putting that seed into good ground starts with you being obedient and trusting God. You have to water the seed with the Word of God and prayer. Get God involved. I have seen God put everything in place and all that was needed is me following His lead. Just like the regular seed goes through different stages before it germinates and becomes a new plant, a business idea goes through various stages.
My journey into Entrepreneurship began with a seed, a business idea, downloaded into my spirit in January 2021. The idea I received was to launch out into a pedicure and manicure business. I have never studied nail care, but God started preparing me for this in 2020 when I volunteered to do a friend's pedicure. Because God dealt with my fear, I was able to obey and trust Him with this business idea He gave me. One of the things he taught me was to be careful who you share my ideas with because not everyone will celebrate you. So the first person I share with was my husband, and he said, "go for it." Sometimes God gives us ideas, but we want to know everything before we move and all He wants us to do is make the first step, and He will order the rest. So I began to make a list of the products that I needed. I did not know where the money would come from or where I was going to set up the business, but I said, " Lord, you are the one that gives me this idea. If you gave me this then you will complete what you started." Because of my response, God began to set things in place. He started dropping ideas of persons with whom I should speak. I contacted my sister, Destine, and shared the idea with her, and she was excited. Since she is a professional Graphic Designer, she volunteered to do the logo and branding. This was the favor of the Lord.
Graphics cause lots of money. So having the right connection is necessary even in a business as a Kingdom Citizen. As I continue to allow God to be the center of my plans, He gave me the idea of enclosing the porch at my home, and He gave me the interior decorating ideas. God open doors for finance to purchase items for my business with the help of my husband. Furthermore, Jehovah Jireh went ahead and opened the door for me to be trained. I received two courses online for the minimal cost of $35 US. These courses would have cost me $299 US each, but God. Hallelujah! I am very grateful to Him for His guidance and His leading in every aspect of making Kenay Manipedi Studio a lucrative business in Antigua. I know as I continue to allow Holy Spirit to lead and as I continue to follow Him, my business will be a success. I continue to trust God each day for discernment each time I encounter a customer who comes to my place of business.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish." - Luke 5:4 NLT
One of the things that hinder believers is fear, the fear of launching out into the deep. Fear causes us to procrastinate a lot. Some of us feel comfortable having a boss instead of being a boss. This mindset of thinking that a sure dollar is better than an unsure one is crippling. I struggled with the fear of launching out for years. I felt working for someone meant I would get a salary every week whether my boss's business was doing well or not. So every business idea God gave me, I will disregard it. The fear of not making it or someone else is doing the same business overpower me. God wants us to have our own business. He promised He would bless the works of our hand, and everything we put our hands to will prosper.
If you have been struggling with fear of launching out, I encourage you today to share your struggle with someone that will help you by instilling God's principles in your life. We all have encountered the spirit of fear in our life but overcoming starts with identifying it, confronting it, and overcoming it. I have overcome, and I am still overcoming. If I can do it, then you can also do it through Jesus Christ. Ask God to reveal to you or remind you of that business idea that He has given you that you have been procrastinating about because of fear. He will help you as He helped me. In the process of launching out, God has taught me some fundamental principles. One such principle is that obedience is practical and not verbal. Another is that trusting God means we allow Him to have His way or have total control. Trusting Him means we do not try to help Him along the way. Now is the time and season for Kingdom citizens to launch into their businesses or expand their existing businesses. Do not worry about what is happening around you. Do not let that distract you In any way. Go forth and occupy. Every territory will be infiltrated and occupied with the Kingdom of God, which also includes the business arena.
Father, I pray for every person that is reading this devotional. I declare that as you have given them business ideas or about to give them, they will be obedient and trust you in Jesus' name. They will understand that you are the one who gives ideas and everything that comes from you is good. Bless their hands, Lord, and cause them to prosper in Jesus Christ's name.
Today, I invite you to open your mouth and declare the following upon the authority of God's word:
I declare over my life today that I will not walk in fear again, but power, love, and self-control are mine in Jesus Christ's name. I declare and decree that I will not live in procrastination, but I will push to get things done with the Holy Spirit's help in Jesus' name. I declare over my life today that I will trust and rely only on God with all my heart in the mighty name of Jesus. I declare that because God is All-Knowing, I will not rely on my understanding and insight in Jesus' name. I declare and decree that from today I will continue to appreciate and acknowledge God's goodness in my life in Jesus' name. I declare that God is making my path smooth and straight. I will not stumble because He is removing every obstacle in my way in Jesus Christ's name. I declare and decree today that God is launching me out into deeper, where I will walk in all that He has created me for in Jesus' name. I declare that I will be made abundantly prosperous by God in every aspect of my life in Jesus' mighty name. I declare I am the delight of God, the apple of his eye. I declare and decree that the favor of our Lord is upon me, and the works of my hands are blessed in Jesus Christ's name. I declare that whatever I do will be successful in Jesus' name. In Jesus Christ's name, I declare that I will be a good steward of what God has given to me and not allow fear to make me stagnant.
